What Farmer does

Farmer helps you find where to farm, and shows what your farming is worth.

  • Search any item, zone or mob to see where it drops and how often.
  • It counts every mob you kill and everything you loot. After 20 kills you see real drop rates from your own play.
  • It ranks your best mobs by gold per kill.
  • Set a goal like "40 Copper Ore" and an arrow points you to the best spot.
  • Charts show your gold an hour and where your gold came from.
  • It opens clams, sacks and lockboxes with one click.

How to open it

  • Type /farm. If another addon uses /farm, type /farmer.
  • Type /farm and a word to search right away, like /farm copper ore.
  • Click the pick button on your minimap. Right-click it for Settings. Middle-click it to show or hide your goals.
  • Drag the minimap button to move it around the edge.
  • Press Escape to close a window.

The windows

The main window

The tabs hang below the window: Search, Rankings, Grind and Stats. It opens on the tab you used last. Drag the grip below the bottom right corner to make it bigger or smaller. Right-click the grip for the normal size.

Search

  • Type an item, a zone, a mob or a place. Results show as you type.
  • With the box empty, you get ideas for cloth, leather, ore and herbs that suit your level.
  • The chips at the top filter by kind: Mob, Ore, Herb, Skin, Fish, Box, NPC and Quest. By Zone groups each item's spots by zone.
  • Click a column heading to sort. Where sorts the closest spots first.
  • Spots marked [Forever] are confirmed on WoW: Forever.
  • Things you looted, gathered or fished yourself show up too, under Your finds.
  • Click a row to put the spot in chat. Click Goal to make it a gathering goal. Right-click to hide something.
  • Search "greens" to see how often green gear and better drops at each level.

Rankings

  • Your best mobs, by what one kill is worth.
  • Measured mobs are ones you've killed 20 times or more, with coin counted. Estimates come from the usual drop rates, so they run low.
  • World drops shows how often green gear and better drops by mob level.
  • Tick Outside dungeons only to leave out dungeon mobs.
  • Click a mob to open its loot table.

Grind

  • Finds camps of mobs to grind at your level. Pick the levels, or click My level to follow you as you level.
  • Pick a type, like Humanoid or Beast, and what you want them to give: Cloth, Leather, Ore or Herbs.
  • Ore and Herbs show zones and their nodes, with what an hour of gathering was worth to you.
  • Click a camp to point your goal arrow there. Camps show on your world map too.

Stats

  • Switch between This session and Overall.
  • The top shows gold farmed, gold an hour, kills and days in a row.
  • Charts show gold an hour by session, where your gold came from, your best mobs, your luck, every day you farmed and how long each level took.
  • Breaks of five minutes without loot don't count as farming time.

Kills & Loot panel

This panel sits on the left of your screen while you play.

  • Farm tab: one card for each mob you killed this session. The open card shows your kills, a bar toward 20 kills, what a kill is worth and what it dropped.
  • Loot tab: everything you looted, fished or gathered this session, best earners first.
  • The top shows your gold so far and your gold an hour.
  • Sort changes the order. Clear starts the panel fresh. Click it twice. Your kill counts stay.
  • Click a loot icon to see everything that mob has ever dropped for you.
  • Fishing and gathering get their own sections once you start.
  • Drag the panel to move it. Drag the gold grip to make it bigger or smaller.
  • The X hides it. Type /farm tracker to bring it back.

The Open button

When you carry clams, sacks or lockboxes, an Open button shows on the panel's title bar. Each click opens the next one. It skips goal items, quest items, locked lockboxes and things your other Blackthornes addons want kept. A small note shows how many you've opened and what one is worth.

Loot table

Everything a mob has dropped for you, with how often and what each drop adds to a kill. Click a column heading to sort.

Goals

  • Set up to six goals per character, like 40 Copper Ore.
  • Each goal shows how many you have, how many are left and about how long it will take at your pace.
  • Where? shows the best places near you to farm it.
  • Click a goal to search for it. Shift-click to point the goal arrow at it. Right-click to remove it.
  • Set a goal from the Goal button in Search, or type /farm goal Copper Ore 40.

Goal arrow

A gold dial that points to your goal and says how far away it is. It turns on with your first goal. Click it for your next goal. Right-click it for the next place. If you have TomTom, TomTom shows the way instead.

Your top 15

When a kill moves a mob up your top 15, the list pops up beside the panel and shows the move. It can also pop up after an auction scan with new prices.

XP bar

An XP bar that shows your time on this level, XP an hour and about when you'll level. Hover it to see how to finish the level. It starts off. Turn it on in Settings.

Tooltips and nameplates

  • Materials say where to farm them.
  • Mobs show your kill count, like Kills: 7/20, then what a kill is worth and its best drops.
  • Nameplates show your kill count on the left. Mobs a quest needs show your count on the right, like 3/8.
  • With Tradeskills, a material can say when crafting it pays more than selling it.

Out in the world

  • The herb, ore, fishing school, chest or quest object in front of you lights up with a beam of light.
  • Markers on your map and minimap show where you gathered, and when a node should grow back.
  • When your bags are full and a bag is open, a small trash can sits on the item worth the least. Click it to pick the item up. Nothing is ever deleted for you.
  • A short note tells you when your bags are full.

Hiding things

Right-click a mob, node or item almost anywhere in Farmer and pick Hide. Type /farm hidden to see them and show them again. Nothing you recorded is lost.

Sharing

  • Share your counts with your own second account.
  • Give your counts to a friend as text, and take theirs with /farm take. You can take them back out later.
  • Share drop rates with guildmates who use Farmer. Your own kills always stay yours.

Settings

Right-click the minimap button, click Settings in the main window, or type /farm settings. Changes save right away. Use Find a setting at the top to search. Nothing in Settings can delete your data.

Good to know

  • Drop rates show after 20 kills of a mob. Before that, you see counts.
  • Prices come from Tradeskills when you have it. Without it, Farmer uses TSM or Auctionator, then vendor prices.
  • Grey items are always worth their vendor price.
  • The Kills & Loot panel starts empty each time you log in. Your kill counts, Rankings and Stats stay.
  • Skinning is left out of what a kill is worth. You can still search for leather and hides.
  • Clams, sacks and lockboxes count toward a mob's worth once you've opened 10 of them.
  • Goals belong to the character who set them.
  • Only one Blackthornes arrow shows at a time. The newest one wins.
  • With Tradeskills, its Gather tab can make Farmer goals for the materials you need.
