What Equipment does

Equipment tells you which gear is better for your character, and where to get more of it.

  • A green arrow shows on gear in your bags that's better than what you wear.
  • Tooltips say how much better or worse a piece is for your spec.
  • One click puts an upgrade on.
  • Where to get upgrades lists better gear from vendors, quests, dungeons and crafting.
  • The upgrade quest turns your next upgrade into a quest, with steps and an arrow.
  • It shows class spells you can train and what they cost.
  • It names the best enchant for each piece you wear.

How to open it

  • Type /beq or /equipment.
  • Or click the shield button on your minimap.
    • Right-click it for Settings.
    • Shift-click it to turn the upgrade quest on or off.
  • Press Escape to close any Equipment window.

The gear window

This is the main window. It has one line for each gear slot.

  • Click an upgrade in Best in bags to put it on.
  • If nothing in your bags is better, it may show a better piece in your bank or on another character, in amber.
  • A red Train means it's a weapon you haven't learned yet.

Buttons at the top:

  • Training shows class spells you can learn. It reads "Training (4)" when spells are waiting.
  • Upgrade quest turns the upgrade quest on or off.
  • Settings opens Settings.

The Find upgrades button at the bottom opens Where to get upgrades.

Training

The Training drawer opens beside the gear window.

  • At level N: spells for your next level.
  • Weapon skills: weapons in your bags you still need to learn.
  • Your other characters: what your alts can train.

Click Show the way to point the arrow at your class trainer. Visit a class trainer once so the real prices show.

The upgrade quest

Turn it on with the Upgrade quest button in the gear window, Shift-click on the minimap button, or /beq quest.

Tabs: Vendor, Quest, Dungeons and Raids, Crafted, and Quest log. Each tab has its own upgrade.

The panel shows:

  • The item and how much better it is.
  • A list of steps, like "Travel to Westfall", "Pick up a quest" or "Defeat a boss and loot the item". The step to do now glows gold.
  • Quest steps show your quest's goals and counts, like the game's tracker does.

Buttons:

  • Show on map pins the next place on your map.
  • Arrow turns on the quest arrow.
  • Change lets you pick a different upgrade.
  • Ignore skips this upgrade and picks the next best one. You can bring it back from Ignored in Settings.

  • Current step only: shows just the step to do now.

When you level up and a much better upgrade opens, a box offers it. Click Switch to take it or Keep current to stay.

Close the panel with its red gem. Your quests stay saved.

The Quest log tab

This tab shows every quest in your log, grouped by zone.

  • Tick a quest's box to track it.
  • Right-click a quest to show it on the map, point the arrow at it, share it or abandon it.
  • Tracked only shows just the quests you track.
  • Hide the game's quest tracker hides the game's list while the panel is up.

The quest arrow is a gold compass that points to the next place in your upgrade quest. It's off until you turn it on.

  • It shows how far away the place is. It says "You're there" when you arrive.
  • Click it for the next tab's upgrade.
  • Right-click it for the next place.
  • Click a step on the panel to aim the arrow there.
  • Click its red gem to hide it.
  • If you use TomTom, TomTom's arrow shows the way instead.

Only one Blackthornes arrow shows at a time.

Other things Equipment adds

Banners. When an upgrade lands in your bags, a banner drops in at the top of the screen. Click Put it on to wear it. For a weapon you haven't learned, click Show the trainer to find the weapon master.

Bag arrows and coins. Gear in your bags gets a green arrow if it's an upgrade. Gear that's no use to you and sells to a vendor gets a gold coin.

Vendors and loot. The green arrow also shows on vendor items, in the loot window and on loot rolls.

Quest rewards. At a quest hand-in, the best reward gets a green arrow. If none is an upgrade, the one that sells for most gets a coin. Click Take under the quest window to take it.

Character sheet. Hover a gear slot to see its best upgrades. Alt-click the slot to track them.

Upgrade hunts. Gear you track shows in a small panel, with pins on your world map. Click a line to pin it on your map.

Tooltips. Item tooltips say things like:

  • "Upgrade for Fury: +12%" in green
  • "Worse for Fury: -5%" in red
  • "Upgrade for NAME: +8%" when it's better for one of your other characters
  • "Best enchant" on gear you wear
  • Who among your characters can make it

Stat weights

Stat weights decide how much each stat counts. Equipment picks your spec for you by your talents. You can pick a different one in Settings.

To change the weights, open Settings and click Change next to Stat Weights. Type a number for each stat. A higher number means that stat counts more. 0 means it doesn't count. Use the built-in weights puts them back.

Settings

Right-click the minimap button, click Settings in the gear window, or type /beq settings. Changes save right away. Use Find a setting at the top to search.

Good to know

  • The upgrade quest, its arrow and Put On Upgrades start off. Turn them on in Settings when you want them.
  • Gear that binds when you wear it always waits for your click.
  • A weapon you haven't trained shows a red Train instead of a number. The banner can show you the weapon trainer.
  • Use Skip Upgrades on crafting alts, so their gear can go to someone else.
  • Only one Blackthornes arrow shows at a time. The newest one wins.
  • With Tradeskills, crafted upgrades get a Queue it button. Butler uses Equipment to know what to keep, sell or mail.
